I read a Facebook post that made me laugh and made a whole lot of sense. A writer in my nanowrimo region posted about not being able to turn off his inner editor. He also previously shared that he never finished stories. Our ML told him that she couldn’t let herself do that because she didn’t know exactly what her story was until she finished. If she stopped halfway and tried to edit, it would be like shooting a target she couldn’t see. Then she added: “But if you’ve had trouble finishing stories in the past, can I respectfully suggest that premature editing might be the reason?” Sound reasoning indeed.
Just thought I would share with the class.
