This isn’t really a writing update. This is an “I should be writing” update. Or maybe a “well at least I wrote a few blog posts update.
I think I’ll settle on an update on my writing class, since that’s one of two things I’ve made progress on in a week. I’m behind. It’s not as bad as it sounds. I took my time on one lesson, which is a good thing, and now I need to catch up. I have absolute confidence that I will be where I need to be by Friday. That is when a new lesson is released so it seems like a good goal.
I haven’t written any flash fiction in a while and surprisingly that fact bugs me. This coming from the woman who swore up and down that she could never write something short. I was convinced I was terrible at it. Too wordy. Not disciplined enough. Now writing shorts makes me happy. Yay me!
I implied that I haven’t done any writing but that’s not true. I haven’t written any scenes but I have been replotting. When Holly Lisle blew up my story (thankfully), it gave me a lot of work to do and I’m loving every second of it. It’s also part of why I’m behind on her class, but I think she would agree it’s a pretty good excuse.
This replot is not really difficult and the only reason it’s time-consuming is I have so many ideas and sorting through them is…interesting. It almost feels like it did when I first began writing this series. What a lovely feeling!
I’m almost ready to write some new scenes but for now I’m content tweaking old ones and planning.
Minor blog updates: I will probably be late with this month’s book review. Also be prepared to be inundated with pictures of random nature stuff soon.
Sidenote: Watching all six Star Wars movies over a couple of days may or may not have had anything to do with me not writing as much as I should.
well presented – thank you for your wonderful updates!

Question on the side note: What order did you watch them in?
I’ve heard several different recommendations for viewing as episodes 4,5,2,3,6 (skipping 1) in order to keep all the twists and have the ending of six make more sense, but I have yet to dedicate the time to see how that works in practice.

I watched 4, 5, 6, then went to 1, 2, 3. I hadn’t intended to watch the prequels when all this started though. I’ve never thought about watching in that particular order. Maybe next time, since there will be a next time, I’ll try that out.

I plan on giving them a watch as a reward for some major writing milestone (next draft of the novel, winning a short story contest, something). I’m hoping it will be before episode 7 is released.

Which of Holly’s classes are you taking?

Many actually. When I purchased the big main class I was the first confirmed sale so I got a lot of bonuses. Three workshops, two short classes and three webinars, plus 3 Skype calls with Holly. I’ve also purchased a few others so it’s more a question of which ones I’m not taking. I’m spending most of my time on the career survival course.

Cool, it sounds like she added new stuff since the last time I bought anything. I should drop by there and check it out.

I recently started binge watching Call The Midwife, and I always use the excuse (in my head) that I need to watch stuff to figure out plot devices and dialog, etc. It’s BS but I convince myself anyway. Sometimes we need a writing break, as long as it’s not too long.

I am now a loyal follower … so get writing! 😀 I find it hard to push on with writing myself … do anything but. Peter De Vries said : ” I love writing but I just can’t stand the paperwork.” Still … I reckon you’ll do just fine….
Star Wars notwithstanding.
All the best. Kris
