It’s Wednesday, you know what to do. Write something. An outline, a paragraph, a list. If you have time, write a short story or a few scenes. Revision counts. A blog post, or even better, write a few posts to save for times when you’re so busy you don’t have time to write. Do ten minute sprints. You might be surprised at how much you get accomplished.
Change up your routine if you normally write every day. Go outside, or to a coffee shop. If you normally use a computer, grab a journal or notepad and see if inspiration hits, and vise versa.
TURN OFF YOUR WI-FI!! Don’t worry about emails or Facebook or Twitter or anything else. All that matters is writing.
The important thing is to write. Make it a weekly don’t-mess-with-my-writing-time thing. If not today, then pick a day that works for you.
If you would like a prompt:
- I recently saw an article titled: It’s Raining Spiders In Australia. What would you do if this happened in your hometown?
- Make up a villain, who has your personality, and write a scene or even a story about them.
- Describe pain.
Happy writing!

And that weekly Wednesday reminder that I really need to get off my snackwell ass and do some writing…instead of just thinking about it.

Hi Kristi (if that is you – apologies if not) – just to say – I enjoyed roaming around your blog a bit. I liked the tips on how to get on with writing and the general “voice” of the site. My one question was, amongst all the comments about writing and what you’re writing, is there any of your actual writing on the site? I couldn’t immediately see any. If there is, maybe there’s a navigation issue there (just a thought – I may be being a bit dim).
I have a similar set of issues on my blog over at robertpimm.com where I have both original fiction and commentary – and can never decide what is the best mix of the two. All thoughts welcome.
With best wishes,
Robert Pimm

Yes, if you look at the menu bar under the title there is a link to a listing of most of the flash fiction I’ve posted. There is also a category titled Rough Drafts
