Write Anything Wednesday #38

You know the drill, write something. Why? It’s a great day to write and I say why not? Write absolutely anything. Try your hand at flash fiction or write a poem. Make an outline or character sketch. Write a chapter, or as many chapters as you can. Nothing to write about? Try making a list of ideas or free-write. Make Wednesday your weekly no-matter-what writing day. If this isn’t a good day then pick another. The important thing is to simply write.

If you feel stumped grab a timer and do ten minute sprints. The first time you do this might not garner great results but the more you do the more you get used to it and your muse will start to shine.

If you would like a prompt:

  • Write a scene about an unusual contract.
  • Do a flash fiction piece about rearranging furniture. If you only knew what we went through when rearranging out bedroom!
  • List time! Make a bucket list for one of your characters.

Happy writing!

  1. Poem. Return of the Sun

Pondering the grey clouds of September,
Wondering if they will stay ‘ til November,
Hoping the summer has not passed us by,
But then the sun shines through a cloudy sky.
A temporary appearance, sad to say
    On this brightening September day.
A breeze us blowing, leaves moving slowly,
Beams through the trees, sheep wander lowly.
Days, they are shortening, sunsets come sooner,
Wind picking up catch sails of the schooner
That sits in the Solent, waves rocking idly,
Sailors trim rigging, waves pick up wildly.
Last seaside wanders, watching gulls fly
Up into a camoflaged September sky.
