The idea of having permanent ink imbedded into my skin doesn’t appeal to me at all. I do have my ears pierced (one hole on each lobe), but I shutter when I see people with the enlarged holes in the earlobes, pierced noses, bellybuttons, and, the worsted — the tongue. Nevertheless, I must leave these subjects alone for the most part because both of my kids have tattoos and I do believe people should be able to express themselves in any way as long as it doesn’t hurt others.
I’ve never understood the enlarged earlobes. I mean what if later in life you decide you hate it, there is no going back. As for tattoos, I don’t have the pain tolerance and I’ve never found anything that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I could handle being on my body permanently. I don’t mind others having them. Some are beautiful works of art. It’s just not for me.
In my opinion, tattoos are an art form. No matter, I won’t be getting one on my person, but I’ve seen some online and on a few people that resonate with me. The one in the picture above is cool because it has meaning for that person…enough meaning that they would spell it out. Fascinating! So fascinating that I put up a Pinterest board just for this type of expression. Just goes to show humans will find any way they can to communicate.
